First Coat of Paint Up!

As you can tell, it's been another late night for me. I need sleep! And the green looks A LOT darker with it all over the wall. Maybe partly because it's the middle of the night and there's no outside light. Anyway, the living room:

Like my pile of furniture?

I was kind of pooped out, so I just decided to stop without painting "Area A". Now you guys can get a feel for what I was saying about it possibly opening up the space and creating a better flow into the kitchen.

Well, what do you guys think? I kind of like it like that. I'll have to convince Steve to keep it though.

So speaking of painting wood trim, I really want to paint it white now. With the white doors and white blinds, the natural Maple looks a little silly.

Also, with all the darkness on the walls, I'm thinking that I might want to do a light color curtain. Maybe white with a color ribbon?

Ok, bedtime now.

Embroidered Pearl DrapeEmbroidered Pearl Drape, 50 x 63", Green AppleEmbroidered Pearl Drape, 50 x 63", Marigold
I like these curtains but they are pretty expensive!  Priced $79-$109
Outdoor Drape Shade
I was thinking of doing something like this in my kitchen.  I could probably make my own.  It looks like just a piece of fabric with strips of fabric for ties.  It probably has a wooden rod at the end to help you roll it up.  I think I'd do a print or sew a border on it like the picture below.
Velvet Ribbon Roman Shade, 26 x 64", Glacier Blue
I like the holdbacks, like pictured below, better than the fabric tie backs.  I'll replace my vertical blinds with curtains.  Too bad I don't have french doors!
Dupioni Silk Tie-Top Drape
River Rock Vase Filler
I like the vases with candles and rocks.  I think I'd rather have lighter colored rocks.  I've never thought about using just rocks in the vases before.  Not bad.
Bread Mold Candleholder
Becca, would Steve ever agree to something like this on your dining room table?  My guess is no.

Curtains Continued

When I do curtains, I think I'm going to get the rod like Sariah's. It might just be long enough for my purposes and if not, Sariah says there's a way to make them longer.

If you look at the windows again, there isn't much room between the corners and the long windows, so I might have to take the finials off. Sariah, that is why I was thinking of using the curved rods in the corners. Also there isn't room for holdbacks in the corners unless I do the old school cloth or some kind of tie to pull them back.

There's only like 2-3 inches from the side windows to the corners. I hate these windows! Plus, if I put the holdbacks in the corners they would be hard to access because of the speakers. The reason why Steve has initially agreed to curtains even though we already have miniblinds is becaues quite a bit of light still comes in and creates glare on the TV. Sometimes it's really bad. Also, sometimes the sun is in your eyes when you're sitting on the couch. So, the "function" of the curtains will be to block out all sun light. That being the case, I want to be able to pull them back easily when I want light.

So what I was thinking was 4 panels on the long wall. And then I would draw them back like this:

This is what Abish is suggesting:

I'm hesitant to do this one because the curtains would be touching the back of the TV, which gets hot, and also touching all the power cords. Fire hazard!

Aren't you glad I know how to use Paint! Well, sort of.
